and you’re gonna care about him. and you’re gonna want him to be happy but i’m not gonna let him be happy. sure i’ll gonna give you moments of happiness, moments of humanity that will keep you coming back, keep you hoping that this ogre will become a prince and live happily-ever-after…and you’ll fall for it again and again.
i’m gonna make him ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask and make him say the things you’ve though yourself. i’m gonna make you think that he will find the answers you’ve been looking for. and i’m gonna challenge your loyalty to him, make you question him and question yourself. i’m gonna make him fight dragon after dragon and win while you cheer him on. and then i’m gonna make you watch him lose and you won’t even know what happened.
i’m not gonna make an arch enemy that you can see, i’m gonna make his enemy himself. you’re gonna watch this character you love tear himself apart searching for something you can’t see. i’ll give him happiness, and he’ll throw it away. i’ll give him chance after chance and he’ll keep falling short, keep needing someone, keep pushing them all away. and you’re gonna scream at the TV along with his only friend, you idiot you idiot why did you do that? you’ll get so angry, so hurt, so confused you’ll want to rip your heart out and walk away from this whole thing.
but then he’ll say, sorry, please don’t go, and you’ll be there for him, because you love him, remember? I’m gonna give you a man you’ve never seen before and i’m gonna show you what he’s made of. and i’m only gonna tell you a little about his past, just enough, all you’re really gonna know is how he is now. and you’re gonna watch him suffer, and fight, and wrestle and you’re gonna fight along with him.
and then when it’s all over, i’m gonna ask you if it was worth it.
